Typical foundry systems
are required for sand
handling and additive
handling for green
sand systems. The sand
systems are based on
the unique Sandpump®,
which achieves very
low transfer velocity
of the sand to avoid
pipe wear. The sand
conveying pipeline
also use light weight
bend tees which allow
the sand to turn through
a right angle without
wear and resistance
to conveying.
The Sandpump® is
also fitted with
a Dome
Valve® for
vessel filling
which is proven
to provide long-term
virtually maintenance free
operation with
abrasive materials.
In addition the Dome
Valve® avoids
the need for
a level probe
fitted in
the vessel because
the Dome
Valve® is
designed to operate
through a static
column of sand.
The
system does not
require the use
of pipeline boosters
avoiding their
maintenance and
cost. Irrespective
of conveying
distance, the
sand velocity
is controlled
to avoid pipe
wear and excessive
air consumption.
The
very low sand
velocity allows
the use of schedule
40 pipe (light
weight pipe)
without wear
concern. It does
not require cast
pipe or heavy
wall pipelines
to extend pipe
wear normally
associated with
booster fitted
to the conveying
pipeline.
Successful
systems for foundries
such as the Sandpump® are
simple, durable
and virtually maintenance
free. The Sandpump® in
more than 1000
installations
since 1977 has
achieved this.
