Vacuum Conveying Systems

Vacuum Conveying Systems

Vacuum Conveying: Negative pressure – high velocity
Negative pressure (<12 Hg), high velocity 60-130 ft/sec).
Material is conveyed above the saltation velocity.
Flow is homogeneous and fully suspended.
Velocities are typically between 6-130 ft/sec.

Negative pressure systems are often aimed at requirements where conveying is required from multiple points to a single destination such as rail cars and truck unloaders. As no moving parts contact the material and the systems are leak proof, vacuum systems are commonly used in sanitary and hazardous applications.

Limitations:
Costly if high vacuum is needed due to multiple destination points
Distance: Typically limited to under 300 ft.
Low conveying rates: (<10 tons/hr)
